Seniors' Program

The aim of the Senior's Program is to:

Provide support to seniors by assisting them through social and personal development activities;
Promote confidence, self-esteem and independence;
Link vulnerable older people to local services and social support networks;
Raise awareness of the needs and issues of seniors whilst breaking down the barriers of those who are socially isolated.

Personal Support- meeting your changing needs as you get older

Personal support and individual case-management is now available to older people through the Seniors’ Program.

Our professional staff members can support you in accessing the most suitable service to meet your requirements whether it is:

  • Garden or home maintenance
  • Helping with daily tasks
  • Assisting with minor aids and equipment
  • Referrals to home nursing care
  • How to organise the services you need through a service provider.

Information, advice and individual advocacy, engagement and/or referrals are available to people aged 60 and over.

Safe & Confident living

The fear of crime is very real for many and can lead to excessive precautions being taken. We provide information on personal safety. If you would like to know more please call the Seniors Support Worker on 4055 6440.

Mystery Trips

Several times a year a mystery trip is organised. These extremely popular events are much anticipated and seats fill quickly.  

Past destinations have included a cruise on the Daintree, a visit to Herberton Historic Village, coffee plantations and local wineries.

Tuesday Luncheon Club from $10 per person

Each Tuesday, senior members of the community are invited to attend the Centre’s Tuesday Club which runs from 10.30am to 2pm. Activities include:

  • Line Dancing
  • Guest Speakers
  • Card games and brain teasers
  • Lunch

Or you can just sit and enjoy the company of friends.  Everyone is welcome! Come along and have some fun.

Membership

Users of the Marlin Coast Neighbourhood Centre are asked to become financial members of the organisation. To qualify for membership, a person should have a genuine interest and belief to promote, assist or participate in its activiites.

Application for membership forms and further information about the Centre are available from the reception during office hours.

Membership Fee: $10.00 per year

Office Hours:  Monday to Thursday 9am to 4pm  and Friday 9am to 12 noon
